Reserve currently closed to the public
As of June 2026, Te Matuku Bay Scenic Reserve is closed to the public. Guided and self-guided walks through the reserve are therefore not possible at this time.
We hope to be able to reopen walks when the track is safe and conditions allow. Please contact us or check the blog for updates.
In the meantime, the photo above is a reminder of what awaits — spectacular views over the bay, a rich native forest interior, and the chance to see the reserve up close with people who know it well. We look forward to welcoming walkers back when the time is right.
