About us

Where we work

Location overview

We primarily work in and around Te Matuku Bay, at the eastern end of Waiheke Island. Predominantly we work in four public Reserves:

  • Te Matuku Bay Scenic Reserve — comprising three property titles totalling approximately 54ha, owned in part by the Crown (administered by the Department of Conservation) and in part by Ngāi Tai ki Tāmaki. Status: Scenic Reserve.
  • Waiheke Scenic Reserve — 26.4293ha. Status: Scenic Reserve.
  • Waiheke Island Historic Cemetery Reserve — 0.8201ha. Status: Local Purpose Reserve.
  • Te Matuku Bay Conservation Area — 2.2988ha. Status: Stewardship Area.

The latter three Reserves — together with the Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand's Te Haahi-Goodwin Reserve form what is known as the "Historic Precinct".
