All contributions of time and effort to the operation of Pouteria are from volunteers. We fundraise to employ contractors — principally to break the back of the hardest work so that volunteers can undertake follow-on work.

Jennie leads a small group of like-minded eastern end Waiheke Island locals who are passionate about conservation and understand that plants and animals neither respect nor have any concept of the human notions of land ownership and boundaries — and that conservation endeavours need both a holistic and long-term focus to have any potential for success.
The small group of volunteers at the core of Pouteria brings a wealth of relevant experience spanning practical conservation, ecology, strategic planning, operational management, law, commerce, administration and charitable trust management.
Our guiding principle: "What is in the best long term interests of the land?"
